A three dimensional radiography, also known as a cone beam computed tomography, is an advanced tool used by dentists at our practice to precisely diagnose more serious dental problems and assess oral cavity related anatomy in stunning three dimensional detail. Digital radiography technology improves and simplifies the way we care for our patients’ teeth, resulting in better dental assessments and treatment decisions.

State-of-the-art digital 3D diagnostics

Our digital dental X-ray scanner provides pictures of teeth, surrounding bones and tissues, which help our dentists to identify more complex dentally related problems and decide how to treat them.

What can 3D dental X-rays reveal?

  • Growth abnormalities.
  • Abscesses or cysts.
  • Bone loss.
  • Impacted wisdom teeth.
  • Complex root canal anatomy.
  • Positions of nerves and blood vessels with regards to safe implants placements or surgical procedures.

What should I expect during the X-ray?

The 3D scan is a quick and painless procedure carried out by one of our trained specialists. Unlike traditional dental scanners our state-of-the-art equipment is also able to create a clear image using up to 70% less radiation dose due to higher sensitivity of the imaging sensors.

The patient is sat on a positioning stool, has their head immobilised in a specific position and the x-ray camera rotates slowly around the patient’s head.

The image is ready within two to four minutes and the oral surgeon will report on it within the following days.
